About Us

Welcome to the Friends of Chesham Bois School (FOCBS), formally the PTA, registered charity number 291486. FOCBS is a parent-led committee whose focus is on supporting the school in building a strong, inclusive community for all our families and staff. We work closely with the school to organise and run events to raise funds for new equipment and resources for the school, most recently our newly built additional learning space. In addition to fundraising we aim to create positive experiences for our children and encourage building relationships between families.

All parents and carers automatically become members of the FOCBS when their children join the school. Volunteering, becoming a Class Rep or a Committee Member is a great way to meet new friends, learn more about your child’s school and make a fantastic contribution to enhancing our children’s school experience. But don’t worry if that isn’t for you, there are lots of other ways you can help make a difference.

The Committee meet on a regular basis, usually in the afternoon (over coffee) or evening (over wine), to plan and organise events throughout the school year. These include our cross-school firework display, Christmas events, movie nights, disco’s, parent socials, the Schools of Chesham Carnival, and many more.

The Committee

The FoCSB committee consists of a number of elected members, made up of parents, teachers and other elected community members, of which 3 Officers hold the positions of Chair, Treasurer and Secretary.

The current committee members can be seen by clicking here.

The committee meet on a regular basis usually once a month, with smaller working groups meeting as necessary to organise the larger, more time-consuming events.

Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Our Annual General Meeting is held at the beginning of the academic year and this is the opportunity for all parents to come along and hear in more detail about events run, funds raised and how the money has been spent.  We also elect our new committee at this meeting.

Class Representatives

We have class representatives (reps) with 2 reps per class. They provide a link between individual class parents and the FoCBS committee. Class rep duties are commonly divided between the two reps.  Support from the class representatives contribute to the efficient running and success of our main events.  They will be the point of contact for ticket requests and sales.  They will also organise rotas of help and donations, with the support of the FoCBS committee.

If you are interested in joining the committee or acting as a class representative, please speak to any member of the committee or contact us for further information.

Why Are We A Registered Charity?
