Once money is raised from events the funds are banked straight away and the decisions on how to spend the money are taken at committee meetings.
Ms Sutherland, our Head Teacher, has a “wish list” of items that the school would like to purchase. Often this will be resources to improve a particular area of the curriculum or school environment. In 2014 we replaced a large number of the reading scheme books and installing new playground equipment was installed. Other times it is for a specific event, which the children benefit from in a non-academic way.
In the main we aim to spend FoCBS funds on the “extras” that unfortunately cannot be provided by the school budget; items that make our children’s learning & social experiences so much more fulfilling and exciting.
In the past, items we have funded include the Outside Learning Area, which involved the refurbishment of the decking area at the rear of the school with a new all-weather canopy installed overhead and new circular tables. We have provided items such as interactive whiteboards for all the classrooms, refurbishment of the school hall floor, installation of an air conditioning system in the ICT suite and provision of IT equipment.
We also have on-going commitments every year, for example:
- funding the cost of the Year 6 leavers gifts
- providing Christmas parties and presents from a certain VIP.
- paying for the coaches to take every child to the pantomime before Christmas.
